Koate-DVI is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to control and prevent bleeding in adults with hemophilia A. Koate-DVI can also be used for perioperative (before, during, and after surgery) care. The technical name of Koate-DVI is Antihemophilic factor (human).
Koate-DVI is a clotting factor. Clotting factors work by supplying proteins missing in people with hemophilia.
