Whats The Best Healthcare Coverage Plan For Hemophiliacs If You Are Not Employed?
My current situation is that I am 28 years old and am about to start medical school in a state outside my own (I am a Minnesota resident and will be going to Virginia for school). Since I am over 26, I can not enroll under my parents and I also will not be working and the school does not provide insurance. This leaves me with finding private healthcare coverage. When went to MSU they had a student health center. I think I got coverage as a student because I went several times and don't remember having to pay. Check your school. They might have or give low cost care.
Check for MarketPlace plans under the Affordable Care Act
California: Genetically Handicapped Persons Program or any PPO. HMOs suck for bleeding disorders.
Also...if you are from MN, I assume you have contact with the Center for Bleeding and Clotting disorders at the University of Minnesota
I have worked with the same issues for years...if you don't mind telling me your diagnosis I have a significant resources that I can direct you towards from minimal costs, to possibly zero cost, and if you manage your treatment with home infusion there is also a way to have all of your factor and supplies delivered to your door.
If you are have hemophilia, this will prevent you from ever needing to search for medical insurance coverage ever again.
