Of course ice is one of our long-standing tools, though I find it difficult to keep attached on such surfaces. Fifty years ago I was experimented on with porcine (pig) factor at University of Michigan Medical Center. It worked...the once they tried it. Then I was told never use it again or it could cause rejection problems. Because of that I never used pork products to stop nose/gum bleeding, but have heard interesting things about the practice. Stuffing pork rind up my nose sounds kind of gross to me, though!
